What a Wing-Dinger of a Week!

Usually I try to post a blog on Sundays. For the last couple of weeks, I have simply just ran out of time. This past week, I finally quilted and got the binding on a T-shirt quilt that just has been waiting patiently. Have you ever had a moment that you just should of walked away from a project for the day? I did this week. I had to be friends with Jack the Ripper 4 times while putting on the binding of the T-shirt quilt! I have never had trouble before with binding. But, I believe I was just not thinking and trying to just rushing it. I knew that I wasn’t going to get any other sewing done, that day. It just wasn’t a smart move to continue to sew, when I wasn’t even able to get that binding on. I did get it done, and then just walked away from my sewing studio. I only have to hand sew the binding onto the back. It was very hard to walk away, as I have projects that need to done, and I really enjoy sewing. But, sigh, it just wasn’t the day.

The Binding is on!!!! Just need to hand sew the backside….

This week, I lost 2 15.5” squares of fabric. That’s right, 15.5”! Not 1.5”, but 15.5! I cannot find them anywhere. How in the word does that happen? I have cleaned my sewing studio (silver lining), and went through my shipping department (spare bedroom at the moment). I even looked in my office. Yes, Mom. They simply grew legs and walked away…My Mom would always say when I would lose something, “Angel, they didn’t just grow legs and walk away.” Well, this time, they did! LOL So, again, I went to the store and bought more fabric to cut these squares again. My daughter said that the ladies at the store are going to know me real well, and wonder if I really know what I’m doing. LOL! You know that they will turn up once I finish the quilt I am making. It always seems to work that way. While I was at the store, I also bought some fabric for the table runners and placemats that I have designed. I am ready to dig into making them and writing the pattern out. I am a bit worried about the fabric choices I made. However, I just want to begin the project, and was limited to the choices I had. If I need to, I will make them again. I just keep repeating to myself a Bonnie Hunter quote, “If it is still not pretty, you didn’t cut them small enough.” LOL It isn’t all about being pretty though. One of my neutrals, I believe, has too much other color in the fabric pattern. We will just have to wait and see. I am thinking about including directions for paper piecing in this design, and then doing a tutorial on how to do that. I have found that some quilters are a bit scared of paper piecing. It isn’t hard, and would welcome a tutorial. I’ll have more to come with that later.

Oh boy! I am pretty sure I will have to make them all again! But, a simple wait and see!

Lastly, I began my videos for the website/Facebook page. I have to tell you, this made me quite anxious. I have danced in my past for the public, and I was Miss Teen Kansas of the Year 1991 (that’s a secret, so don’t tell anyone-LOL). I have been on camera and taken many pictures in my youth. However, this is way different! I also do not like taking pictures anymore, and certainly do not like video recordings. But, because I truly believe in what we are doing and I want to share with and give back to the quilting community, I am biting the bullet and getting it done! This first video is just a way for you to put a face with a voice, and invite you to walk the journey of spreading beauty and joy with us. It may seem a bit cheesy. But for those that know me, they know that I am a very passionate and cheesy person. I truly believe the words that I said with every ounce of who I am.

Delivering products and services with the attributes of a quilter and with you in mind. Come join us in the journey of spreading beauty and joy! Gotta love the thumbnail! LOL

Well, time for me to get quilting!

Until next time, may you continue to be inspired, productive, and joyful!  And never stop making your dreams in quilting come true!
