An English Paper Piecing Quilting Inspiration & Rag Quilts! What do they have in common?

So, we asked what do English Paper Piecing and Rag Quilts have in common? They are 2 new elements added on our website to inspire you!

There has been a lot of “buzz” about English Paper Piecing in my quilting world.  Although this is not a new method, by any stretch of the imagination, it has received a ton of attention lately!  Many quilters want to learn how, and others just simply are looking for techniques to better their skill.  We have added a free blog style tutorial on EPP to help you in your quilting journey.  You can find it in the Inspirations tab on haloinspired.com.

English Paper Piecing (EPP) is a personal love for me.  It is an easy project to take with you anywhere, as everything you need fits in a small bag.  Those of you that know me know that I do not like hand quilting what so ever.  However, I do love to EPP and I am working on a small “Grandmother’s Flower Garden” wall hanging.  EPP is a long tradition that we can date back to at least the 1700s.  It has also been a tradition in my own family.  My very skilled mother taught me, and I taught my daughter.  We each have our own projects, but we enjoy cheering each other on and seeing the beauty that we each are creating.  It truly has become something that has brought us together and bonded us deeper.  This tutorial was written to help you all spread your own beauty and joy.

If you have any questions, just drop me an email at stauffer@haloinspired.com.  I will do my best to answer any questions you may continue to have.

The new Inspirations tab is a place where you will find tips, tricks, techniques or free tutorials.  Although this is just the beginning, a free video on how to make a Quilter’s Knot and the EPP blog style tutorial are there already for you.  To make navigation easier, we have also created an Inspiration List tab. As things are added, we will be sure to add them to the list. Eventually, I want to do a video tutorial on EPP.  I realize that some people just learn better by watching instead of reading.  In June, we are planning another tutorial on ¼” seams.  I will probably do a written one first.  Quarter inch seams are one of my biggest pet peeves.  Not making them, but watching people try to teach them.  Do you find yourself struggling with your seam allowances and then your finished block sizes?  It may simply be a misunderstanding of your 1/4” seam, and the tutorial you will find helpful.  Hope to see you all there for that!

The second element added to haloinspired.com was Rag T-Shirt Quilts!  As you can see, I did finish this beauty! It has been delivered to the client and they are filled with joy! Isn’t that why we quilt? Isn’t it to fill others’ lives and ourselves with beauty, joy, and inspiration? I have to add, it is a whole lot more fun fulfilling these things with all of you.

We all either have plenty of T-Shirts that we don’t wear or know someone who does.  We tend to hang on to them, because of the connection we have to them.  For example, T-shirts collected during high school or college, organizations we have been a part of, or places we have been to throughout our lives, just to name a few.  Looking for something different to do with those memories? How about a Rag Style T-Shirt Quilt custom made with your memories!?

Some of you quilt, but don't make T-Shirt Quilts, and have friends and family that ask you to make one.  We can help them for you!  Just share the website with them, tell them to click to shop, order a T-Shirt Quilt, and we will take it from there.

I'll take your T-shirts and turn them into a quilt that can be treasured for years.

We, HALO Inspirations, will be travelling to Kansas City to celebrate our daughter’s college graduation this week. Yay! So, we will see you on the backside!

Until next time, may you continue to be inspired, productive, and joyful!  And never stop making your dreams in quilting come true!
